My name is Lisa Raposo Marshall, and I have been sharing in the responsibility of teaching your children since 2015. My role as a Teacher Associate at Henry Barnard School has me wearing many hats. As I travel from class to class and work with various grades and students I often think of this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Success can be measured in many ways but for me, it really is knowing that I may have helped someone breathe a little easier. This could be a student learning social and emotional skills, their letters and sounds for the first time, an older student understanding what they have read, or working out a math problem.
At Henry Barnard School I ensure student safety while greeting the students every morning and bid them farewell at the end of each day. I also have the pleasure of ensuring the students’ safety while monitoring them during their lunch. I do, however, spend most of my time in different classrooms. I am part of several classrooms and I am there to meet the needs of students and classroom teachers. I am utilized in a variety of ways. I often meet the needs of individual students by differentiating instruction and adapting materials
As a highly qualified teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and currently working towards my masters degree with a certification in Special Education, I am grateful to be able to co-teach in various classrooms and get to know all the students in the building. I am privileged to work side by side the classroom teachers who offer so much to the students at Henry Barnard School. Henry Barnard School is home to me while attaining my undergraduate degree I worked at Henry Barnard School in the afterschool program, Explorations, for several years. I have a love for what I do.
