Henry Barnard School is a special place, and I am very excited to serve as your Interim Principal for the 2018-2019 school year! Having been a teacher here since 2006, I have had the chance to experience, firsthand, the superior teaching and support that our school has to offer its students. During the past 12 years, I have worked in various roles at HBS. I started as a kindergarten teacher, moved on to the first grade and then became an intervention specialist where I supported students in grades K-5. Also, while teaching, I earned a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from Rhode Island College. Through this experience, I served as an administrative intern and worked closely with the administration.
I think one of the best things about our school is how everyone supports each other and works collaboratively. The faculty is innovative, supportive and dedicated to the individual needs of our students. They work tirelessly to create classrooms built on respect and the academic and emotional well-being of all learners; I am looking forward to supporting our HBS community as we begin our 120th Anniversary.
In my years of teaching, I have built relationships with many HBS families. I am looking forward to continuing to grow these relationships as an administrator. I believe that we all share a common goal at our school. Communication with families will continue to be a priority.
I am looking forward to having the opportunity to share the great things that happen in our school every day. My goal is to make this a seamless transition for our entire school community.
Lastly, I am looking forward to the ongoing relationships with the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development (FSEHD). My experiences and research have helped shape my understanding of successful laboratory schools. Henry Barnard School is unique: We are the only laboratory elementary school in the state of Rhode Island.
I am looking forward to continuing our legacy and being a part of another successful school year for the HBS community.
